KIBISAN® SAN is a copolymerization of styrene-acrylonitrile. Acrylonitrile monomer (AN) is added to styrene monomer (SM) to copolymerize SAN, also commonly known as the AS Resin. SAN not only retains the transparency of GPPS, it also has more chemical resistance and slightly increased surface hardness. Under natural conditions, it is a bright yellowish transparent object. The SAN product manufactured by our unique continuous process has good transparency, uniform high gloss, chemical resistance, superior heat resistance, rigidity, and stability. KIBISAN ® is the best material for cosmetic containers, lighter casings, food processing containers, battery casings, detergent sprayer apparatuses, etc. In fact, KIBISAN® has been applied in the manufacturing of hundreds of consumer products globally, including products of various grades from high heat resistance to transparent products. KIBISAN® has also been UL and CUL certified.
ASA is a copolymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile, and acrylic rubber. Technically, ASA not only maintained the main characteristics of the ABS, it also combines the weather resistance advantage of acrylic to extend the product application for outdoor purposes. Following 30 years of experiences in manufacturing ABS, KIBILAC® ASA has inherited the good qualities and characteristics of Chimei’s POLYLAC® ABS. The characteristics of weather resistance durability, color stability, and good PC/PVC capability have allowed KIBILAC® ASA to become a broader and higher value resin that can be applied in automotive parts, construction parts, outdoor sporting goods, gardening parts, outdoor antenna parts, electronic and electrical products, toiletries, etc. In addition, KIBILAC®ASA also reduces the secondary coating and electroplating processing costs, allowing its products to have cost reducing and environmental friendly features. Presently, primary ASA product specifications are PW-957, PW-978B, and PW-997S.
This solid polymer is formed by heat polymerization of styrene monomer. This product is referred to as the general purpose polystyrene, also known as hard plastic. Generally speaking, general purpose polystyrene has the advantages of being bright, lightweight, transparent, low cost, etc. In addition, if rubber is added and mixed during the polystyrene production process, impact resistant and non-transparent polystyrene commonly known as the high impact polystyrene (HIPS) can be developed.

The MS Resin ACRYSTEX® of Chimei is a transparent copolymerization primarily composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene monomer (SM). Its advantages include excellent transparency, optical properties, low hygroscopicity, good weather resistance, ease of processing, low residual stress for molded products, etc. The proportion of MS Resin is lower compared to that of Acrylic, and the cost is also cheaper.
To make transparency, we add an third element to adjust the refractive index of ABS and rubber matrix to be in consistency. Base on our exclusive technique, we developed transparent MABS PA-758, which demonstrates beautiful/stable color, good flowability and transparency. It is suitable to manufacture the computer peripheral, home electronics, toy, and daily appliances. PA-758R is applied for end products which require the chemical resistance.
ABS is a copolymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile, and butadiene latex. Its heat and solvent resistance properties are better than HIPS and it has gloss characteristics. Because acrylonitrile has stronger nitrile polarity, it can enhance the interaction of the PS in the molecular chain. Therefore, its impact strength, tensile strength, and plastic surface hardness are better compared to those of HIPS. Generally, the higher the content proportion of acrylonitrile, the better the heat resistance, rigidity, and solvent resistance properties; but the fluidity is worse and the plastic contains a yellow color. During injection mode, it has very good mechanical property and dimensional stability. Based on these advantages, the ABS resin has become an excellent engineering plastic.
